ERA RACING & PREWAR DONINGTON
Several prewar black and white ERA photographs (R2A, R4D, R7B, R10B, R12B, R9B, R11B) taken at Donington Park race circuit 1938/9, driven by Raymond Mays, Prince B Bira, Arthur Dobson, and others. These are unpublished originals taken by Tom Green, a former Nottingham Evening News photographer, and until his retirement, Nottingham works manager for H. Tempest Ltd., Industrial, Schools and Commercial photographers. Tom passed away Christmas 1989 and any proceeds from the sale in any form of these originals, will go to the family estate... As a patriotic Englishman, he was very supportive of Raymond Mays and the ERA team and later, BRM, so there is an obvious bias... I also have several copies of the ERA club newsletter and other ERA letters signed by Raymond Mays, Rivers-Fletcher and others. Most of these photographs are on glass plate negatives, so the opportunity to take photographs during the day, would have been severely limited, unlike the ease of today's roll film or even easier digital cameras. I would dearly like to hear from the current owners of these ERAs, and will happily donate a full sized 10x8 print (or larger) to each owner.
